On relationships that fade

Some friendships / relationships don't end. They just slowly become something you check in on occasionally, like a plant you forgot to water.

No argument. No falling out. No single moment you could point to and say - that's where it changed. Just two people growing in different directions, neither of them noticing until there's too much distance to explain without it being awkward.

And the strange thing is, you still love them. You'd still show up if they called. But the easy, everyday intimacy - the kind where you say nothing and it's still comfortable — that's quietly packed its bags and left.

I used to think that made me sad. Now I think it just makes me human. People are seasons sometimes. And some seasons are worth missing without needing to get them back.
